Monday Confessions: How About a Vlog To Pass the Time? |Video

First off, I have to say that I hope everyone is having a very reflective and productive Martin Luther King Jr Day! Share love today, share hope today, share peace.

So I have to say one thing…

Perfection is the enemy of productivity.

I am a perfectionist and I have to stop it.

I spent the better part of the weekend editing a vlog that was supposed to be up on Friday.

Can you see the problem already?

I missed my deadline. Ugh!!!!

I missed my own self-imposed deadline because I hold myself to this unrealistic and stupid standard that often leaves me incapable of acting at all. The whole, “I refuse to do it if I can’t do it right” thing.

It’s ridiculous and it has to stop.

So I released the vlog into the E-verse late last night, and while I was happy to be done with it, I was also mad at myself for creating drama.

Because that is how drama enters the world….we create it.

So I created this vlog and like Stefan from SNL would say, “it has everything.” It has a net-a-porter unboxing which included, Erno Laszlo skincare, Smith and Cult nail polish and a lovely SLG (small leather good). It also has two mini movie reviews, a book mentioning (see last Monday’s post on Garance Dore´).

There is also an unboxing of my new “it” bag, the Alexander Wang Alpha in black suede.

It was an ambitious project, to say the least, but it represents the direction that I’m going with the vlogs on my channel. Some talking, some unboxings, some hauls, some reviews, some tutorials, and a lot of my own personal philosophy. So far, I think the first one of this kind is pretty decent. Of course, the Perfectionist Drill Sergeant that lives in my brain is screaming, “It could be so much better, Slacker!!” And that my friends, is just a small glimpse into my personal issues. If you’re still reading, then I am sure you can relate. We should definitely be friends.

Yeah, so there you go.

Anyway, enough with all the self-deprecating talk.

Why don’t you check out the vlog below and I will catch you on the next, hopefully much more sane, post.

Until next time,

Smooches

The Mrs.
